It's interesting to see Cobain compared to Janis, Jimi and Jim when the former was the only one to exist in a post MTV, post college rock market world, where fewer hands being in control on the business side led to less variety and overexposure on radio and elsewhere.

I never got Nirvana or grunge. I coulnd't figure out if the music depressed me or the U.S. music market it existed in depressed me. Or why the powers at be didn't seem to be willing to take a chance on something else having appeal at the same time.
