Gene,
Mike Keneally is an incredible guitarist/vocalist/composer that is probably
best known for his tenure with Frank Zappa. He has since done several
fascinating records on his own and with his varying groups (including one
called Beer For Dolphins). His latest group includes bassist Bryan Beller
and Spock's Beard/Kevin Gilbert/Rubinoos drummer Nick D'Virgilio. If I were
to recommend a starting point for you to listen, it would probably be the
album "Wooden Smoke." Andy Partridge is a fan of Keneally, if that's any
indication.
