When Clive Davis' newer label J Records (I think) became successful, the
powers that be at BMG reconsidered their previous judgement of enforced
retirement. Combine that with the recent underperformance of Arista as a
label, and Clive being instated as LORD/GOD over the BMG umbrella of labels,
and I expect that instigated the L.A. Reid ouster. As we all should already
understand, the major labels are all about MONEY and very little about
MUSIC, so if L.A. can't make them money and Clive can...badaboom. Chances
are TFF had a "favored nations" clause in their contract, so that when L.A.
was given the heave, the act was allowed to escape from the label. I doubt
that TFF will stay unsigned for long, someone out there will smell money - I
just hope that the album will be released AS IS.
