When I think of Leo Sayer (only spurred by the discussion on this list!)
I think of my early years in radio. I was a rookie selling ads on
KJOY-AM in Stockton CA in '78 and one of my clients was a concert
promoter. He had this double bill of Leo Sayer and Yvonne Elliman.
Long story short, because the promoter kept putting off paying the money
up-front---and I foolishly agreed to let the spots run, anyway--- I had
to go to the concert to collect. I spent most of the show trying to spot
the guy in the wings of the stage, out front by the ticket window---all
to no avail.
Not that I liked or bought any Leo Sayer before that--- but it took me
about three days to get the shrill of "..but I can DANCE!" out of my head.
