I noticed the following on the posting regarding HIP-O Select.

<The label's Web site, hip-oselect.com, launches April 1.
The first set available for sale will be "Tear It Up," a
single-disc collection of the complete Coral Records
releases of '50s rockabilly group Johnny Burnette & the
Rock'n'Roll Trio.>

This is cool. A few years back, I purchased an anthology of Johnny Burnette and the Rock N Roll Trio on the German Bear Family Label. Since it was an import, it was a bit pricey, but this release contained tons of info and some cool alternate takes, including studio chatter. It will be interesting to see how this new disk compares.

If you have not heard Johnny Burnette and The Rock N Roll Trio, I would highly recommend them. I think they were the best rockabilly group of that era. Paul Burlison's guitar work was great. He occasionally used a real fuzzed out sound by wiggling the tubes loose in his amp (which he discovered after the amp accidently fell off the back of a truck). And Johnny could deliver some of the ildest whoops and screams ever recorded. I don't think the Trio lasted very long as Johnny became something of a teen heart-trob and drastically toned down the rockin' side and started recording mushy pop songs employing backing vocals, strings, etc. etc. But the Trio stuff is raw and great.
