One of the projects I was in fact working on at Rhino
Handmade in 2001 (but didn't get the chance to finish)
was Jan & Dean's unreleased CARNIVAL OF
SOUND album, from 1968, which featured guest
vocalists (including Davy Jones) performing Jan Berry's
songs. It was kind of a Jan Berry "solo" album, although
it would have been credited to Jan & Dean most likey,
even though Berry was the only one of the two signed
to a Warner Bros.production deal, as I recall. There
were something like 28 boxes of multi-tracks to go
through, and I was working on liner notes and talking
with Berry's wife and it was all coming together in
pre-production...too bad it never did get released. One
of the tracks was that "Girl You're Blowing My Mind"
song David mentioned.
