Hello Folks,

As many of you know, I do research for a living and sometimes research misc
questions for people in my spare time. Someone asked me about pay download
MP3 sites so I researched and found a couple I really like, allofmp3.com,
and mp3search.ru. About a nickel a song for high quality MP3s, and I
verified they do have a royalty agreement. I also found one in Korean, that
I would love to join, because they have some really obscure stuff (including
the Barry Mann Princess and The Punk single mentioned recently), but they
require a korean national social security number to join (2000mp3.com).
Anyway, I was just curious if anyone had found any other sites they really
like, similar to these that are inexpensive and easy to use. Let me know.
For your info I've pasted the summary of my research below for those
interested. Cheers, Gary

Q: Gary, where can I find free or cheap MP3s to download?
A: Pay sites like Napster charge you about a buck for a song, and often they
are copy protected (will only play on the computer you download them on),
and are low quality (128K windows media) audio. I did some research and
found two sites that are about a nickel per song for high quality MP3s. Both
of the sites work similarly. You establish a balance by giving them a credit
card and letting them charge an initial sum (I let them charge $20 at a
time), then you can download until that balance is gone. The two sites are
http://club.mp3search.ru, and http://www.allofmp3.com The latter has a
better selection, and lets you specify what encoding rate you want for most
songs. If you can't find what you are looking for here, then a file sharing
application like WinMX will probably find it. You can get this app at
http://download.com. You can often find free mp3s by going to alltheweb.com
and using their audio/mp3 search, but it is hit or miss what you will find.
