Methinks you are correct - it does sound like the Baldwin electric
harpsichord, which is a rare SOB. That thing was all over the Partridge
Family records, and I believe that Roger Manning played one on the Jellyfish
albums. Sometimes you can approximate the sound on a Clavinet (example:
"I'll Be There" by the J5), but the characteristic sound of the jack hitting
the strings after the key is released isn't as pronounced.
There are good harpsichord samples around - Kurzweil has some exceptional
ones, which in fact I use on the last Oohs album in a few places. I plan to
use it on our next disc too!
