This one is coming out this year, I think....I think a label
in the UK is putting it out (wasn't that what it said in
MOJO?). I hope so -- it's a great album...
On the subject of rare albums, I wanted to ask Mike W.,
you said you're meeting with a "Sony music rep" and yet
you said "He runs a small side label that specializes in
this kind of thing." Those seem like two different things...
I'm confused -- you said that he can secure rights to
albums on other major labels...so....he's not just looking
for titles owned by Sony (Columbia, Epic, etc.) titles, then,
is he? Can he license complete albums from other labels?
And you said "major" labels, so is he only looking for
stuff that came out on majors? I can tell you from a little
bit of experience, that can be very very expensive for a
guy at a little side label to attempt. Or, is he just looking
to license tracks? For reissue in the U.S. (only? EU too?).
If you can tell us a little more about what exactly this "rep"
(sales guy?) is looking for (i.e.downloads only? reissue
CDs in certain parts of the world only?) it might help....
By the way, Mike, I think you must have been exaggerating
a bit when you said "sony now owns 60% of everything"...
I think Universal might argue that point...
