I agree. Good tune, but the Chimes of Freedom version drags a bit, feels
bogged down. The one on the Tracks set (which I don't have) is the better
version. Your post got me thinking, I should put together a mix tape of
Springsteen songs done by Pop and Powerpop artists (and I mean "pop" in an
Audities sense). So I compiled a list of about 30-40 songs -- then I
searched some web sites for Bruce covers, and lo and behold, there are quite
a few covers by fave artists of mine, but I'm totally unfamiliar with the
cover! Can anyone shed any light as to where these covers reside? The
covers in question are the ones where I put the artist in parentheses.
(PS - I apologize for inflicting this on those of you who don't dig Bruce,
which is fine, after all this is a powerpop list - but I couldn't resist the
urge - so please just skip over the long post - sorry!)
