<<<<At that time Kihn was a separate act, and those that remember the
Beserkley Chartbusters album will remember Kihn had a song called "Mood Mood
Number" on it, and Earthquake had a couple of tines including Friday on my
mind cover. That song is still my favorite Kihn song.>>>>

My favorite Greg Kihn track is "Rendezvous", penned by none-other-than Bruce
Springsteen hisself.

Which brings up a thought - I'd love to hear a power pop tribute to the
songs of Bruce Springsteen, being both a big fan of power pop and Bruce. I
think this could be a pretty cool listen.

This might not be as odd as some might think -- Bruce has a lot of songs,
particularly on his 70s and early 80s releases, that aren't that far from
powerpop, and could translate quite well given the right voices, harmonies,
etc. - think Saint In The City, Rosalita, Night, Prove It All Night, The
Ties That Bind, to name a few from his first several albums.

Not that this is that novel an idea: in addition to Kihn's Rendezvous, Any
Trouble did a turbo version of Growin' Up on their debut LP (about 1981?).
I also remember hearing a great power pop version of Born To Run (the song)
on the radio once, but never tracked it down. Anecdotally, Bruce once said
in an interview that he liked the Raspberries, and, when writing or
arranging Born To Run, he wanted his intro to have the balls out power pop
feel of the 'berries' "I Wanna Be With You". I kid you not!

There are probably more powerpoppish Bruce covers out there, but I can't
think of any more at the moment...

(Oh yeah, there's that song, Jessie's Girl... Or was that Jersey Girl? ;-)
