Christopher, I don't know about exact melodies being the same but half of
Klaatu's second album , "Hope" has melodies and arrangements which are very
motif driven almost like the sequences of melodies in Beethoven's 5th.
Classical instruments are everywhere and not just used as pads or light
arrangments. This is more like a bridge between classical period classical
music and pop. Think ELO but way more arranged and motif driven....Other
than that, there are a few pop songs here and there that lift old melodies
from songs that no longer have a registered copyright.
