Tommy Dunbar, a Rubinoo who I believe is on this list, could verify this
info (His older brother Robbie was in Earthquake), but I don't believe Kihn
was ever in the band once A&M dropped them (they were with A&M for 3 years
in the early 70's and had 2 albums that I know of) and Kaufman formed
Beserkley to promote them. At that time Kihn was a separate act, and those
that remember the Beserkley Chartbusters album will remember Kihn had a song
called "Mood Mood Number" on it, and Earthquake had a couple of tines
including Friday on my mind cover. That song is still my favorite Kihn song.
And Lovin' Cup from the third beserkley Levelled album is my favorite
earthquake song. Tommy Dunbar told me something really interesting about the
guy that wrote that song, but for the life of me I can't remember it (unless
he directs the rock orchestra tommy plays with sometime).
Anyway, this reminds me I have a few singles on Beserkley by someone called
"Son of Pete". The first single I got was called "Don't tread on Me". The
second was "Silent Knight" and just was completely silent. No music, no
nothing... And then there were a couple of crude singles, like ballad of
yukon pete by "son of pete and the muffdivers" and maybe a song called "Big
Ass Lil" too. The songs were all credited to an "R.Bimler" if I remember
right. Does anyone know if this was a real person, or just Kaufman and label
buddies goofing around?
Cheers,
Gary

From AMG:
Earth Quake started in 1976, under the leadership of singer/guitarist Greg
Kihn. He started the group while working at Beserkley Records, the label
which would sign the group soon after it started. Other members included
Steve Wright (bass), Robbie Dunbar (lead guitar), and Larry Lunch (drums).
They played the San Francisco area and often toured with other Beserkley
bands due to the communal attitude the label took. The group eventually
broke up in 1980, leaving Kign to go on with minor success three years later
with "Jeopardy."
1975 Rockin' the World Beserkley
1976 8.5 Beserkley
1977 Levelled Beserkley
1979 Two Years in a Padded Cell Beserkley
2003 Sittin in the Middle of Madness
The 2003 release appears the only one still in print.
