crazy night.
I wanted to try and make my way back and forth from
galaxy hut to IOTA for the Teenbeat Anniversary party
and Grant Lee Phillips. I ended up mostly at IOTA as I
was right up front, mesmerized by Grant's lovely 12
string acoustic. I was literally standing in front of
him the whole set!
Since the show ended a bit early, I went back to the
hut to what I could catch, but it was mostly over. A
friend of mine, Tom, went with me and we chatted music
as usual, and he introduced me to Trevor (kampman?)
aka hollAnd. Very interesting dude. I'm sure we'll
meet up again.
As I left, and said goodbye, it triggered a memory of
Montreal with Noise Museum (Jeremy from Swivel Chairs
used to be the drummer) back in early december 1995.
you see, Noise Museum played a few gigs there and
shared the stage one night with a band called The Sea
Beggars which included a guitarist/singer named Trevor
Anderson, who I enjoyed chatting with and really liked
a few of their songs. So I come home, do a quick
search and find that The High Dials (previously The
Datsun Four and The Datsuns) are based in Montreal and
have a singer/guitarist named Trevor Anderson. and not
only that, they're on Rainbow Quartz! I can't keep up
on lots o' stuff since I'm poor and have to be choosy
so I missed the whole Datsuns-Datsun Four-High Dials
thing, but I love what I've heard and it's come a long
way from the Sea Beggars. No matter, I was impressed
back in 1995 and I'm fairly certain it is the same
guy. just looking at the picture at Rainbow Quartz
website.
weird.
this is the stuff that runs through my restless mind
at all hours of the day and night.
