Did Holly & The Italians re-record "Tell That Girl To Shut Up" for thier Epic
album? I remember taping the original off a college radio station but when I
got a copy of the LP, it sounded strange to me. I always preferred The
Romantics "Tell it To Carrie" Bomp single over the redone LP version.

The earlest record I have ever heard that was released, pulled and recut was
Smokey Robinson & The Miracles "Shop Around' - Berry Gordy released the
first
version locally in Detroit but thought it was too slow. He woke everyone up in
the middle of the night and drug them into the studio to recut a faster
version
- which hit #1 nationally in 1961

The Beach Boys "Be True To Your School" and "Help Me Rhonda" were hastly
recorded LP tracks, but were later re-recorded with better production and
arrangements for the superior single versions.
