Anyone can tell me what was the first K-Tel hits album? The earliest I have is
"22 Explosive Hits" from 1970-1 (my guess).though it contains songs like The
Who's "I Can See For Miles" from 1967. I also have a couple hits compilations
from a company called. "24 Groovy Greats" - (about 1966-7 pressed by Columbia
Special Products) and "24 Heavy Hits" from the late 60's.
I still enjoy finding collections made especally for radio stations. These are
highly prized by Top 40 radio buffs for the DJ pictures. I have KHJ, WLS,
KMIN,
and KLIF, and Houstons Q-94. My favorite would still be "KAKC Solid Gold" -
that was put together by Post Records for KAKC in Tulsa. I even made my own
CD-R version about 2 years ago. Lots of 60's favorites on that compilation,
along with nice pro studio pics of the DJ's.

The fomer PD and Morning Jock told me via e-mail it was a low budget affair -
the front cover photo of the Tulsa Skyline was shot by himself with a Polaroid
camera.
