I have to disagree about the general dismissal of  their work;
especially the absolutely masterful "Laughing Stock", which was the
band's swan song in 1991. Although about as far from power pop as you
can possibly get, I still highly recommend anyone who likes adventurous
music to give this one a try. Really hard to categorize, but definitely
a heady brew of classical, ambient, and prog-jazz textures, with very
emotive vocals. It just about demands your full attention (preferably
with headphones) to take in all of the complexity and beauty. I would
venture this album is one of those that influenced a lot of artists to
really push themselves to express something new.

It's kind of sad the band will always be remembered for their one dance
hit when there was so much more going on in their music at the end.
