Thanks for this link. I've become really fond of mash-ups, at least
when they're executed well. My favorites are those done by Soulwax,
under their 2 many DJs series. The only one ever "officially" released
was 2002's 'As Heard on Radio Soulwax Pt. 2', which contained some
absolute mind blowers, like Iggy and the Stooges mated with Salt-n-Pepa,
and Skee-Lo rapping over "Cannonball" by the Breeders. I heard they
were only able to license the tracks in Belgium, so it's still a pretty
pricey import, but definitely worth it, especially since the entire
thing is mixed into one long DJ set.
I'm in the process of slowly acquiring all of their promo releases, and
they are even more expensive, but just crammed full of adventurous mixes
that they weren't able to clear through licensing.
