Facts up front: I love all three Big Star albums. I'm a huge Posies fan, too. And well, ok....I _want_ to be excited at this prospect...and for now I am, but VVVVVVEeeeeeeeeeeeeery guardedly. If the similar collaboration that closed out the recent Big Star Story compilation is a harbinger, this will sound good but only on paper. That's gotta be one of the most lifeless tracks I ever heard connected to the Big Star name.

From www.nme.com
BIG STAR are set to begin work on their fourth album - 25 years after the release of their third.
According to Billboard, original members Alex Chilton and Jody Stephens will be joined in the studio by Posies frontmen Jon Auer and Ken Stringfellow, who have been part of the Big Star touring band since 1993, when they reformed for live shows.
Big Star's last release was the notoriously downbeat 'Third/SisterLovers' in 1978, recorded when the band was falling apart.
Frontman Chilton and drummer Stephens revived the moniker after the likes of REM and Teenage Fanclub cited them as a massive influence.
