which I have a hunch were dumped at Pier Platters by the Country Rockers'
label Telstar
(which, if memory serves, was run right there in Hoboken by Todd Abrahmson of
the afore-mentioned Maxwell's, correct? and Telstar also put out the
Swingin' Neckbreakers, no??)
I bought every single one of those Chickens I could, in order to spread them
far and very wide indeed that year whilst touring with the similarly alt-bent
Ghost Rockets. I think Southern Culture On The Skids "got it" first, in more
ways than one, but the closer we got to Nashville, the harder it was to find
ANY Country Rockers takers whatsoever, I seem to recall ;-)

record store in SOHO. I can't remember the name, but it's on
Prince St. near W. Broadway. >>
Jeff? That might be Rocks In Your Head you speak of, and it is indeed a fine
spot
(they still have a batcha sealed Turtles Rhino vinyl in there last I looked,
though the mono "Magical Mystery Tour," not to mention Melodiya Dave Rave
elpees, are long long gone).
Subterranean Records on Cornelia Street is another secret Village cubbyhole
filled with many treasures ...though I long ago personally emptied out their
Gene Pitney section I must admit,
