Currently, trying to sell a new cd is not unlike drifting into a black hole.
Back in the time of my old combo the Windbreakers, it wasn't hard for us to
sell 5000 copies of an album. My first solo album on PVC came near the
10,000 mark. Nowadays I'd do better just to give my product away and beg for
pennies on the street.
What to do? I haven't a clue. Certainly some new model is called for and
will eventually appear. In the meantime I still love making my own inept
music but there's absolutely no financial incentive other than the joy it
gives me to create.
Sort of like a hack poet printing his own book of poetry. It's a bit
discouraging but what the hell - it's the only thing I know how to do.
