Gone, I'm most sorry to report,
and almost TEN years ago I believe
(...how fondly I remember climbing upstairs to their legendary second floor
for the very last time, where I scarfed up tons of Country Rockers and even Van
Dyke Parks long-players for 99 cents each during the store's wake sale).

Yet another victim of central Jersey's yuppie mid-Nineties pseudo-boom (or,
as ex-Tonebender/GripWeed/Ghost Rocket Mick Hargreaves so perfectly put it, the
"Hootie-ization of Hoboken"), Pier Platters is now, most appropriately, a
real estate office.

At least Maxwell's is back in good hands (hi, Todd!) after a harrowing
couple'a years masquerading as a sports bar which booked the likes of Jefferson
Starship and Skid Row back in those culturally dank daze.

but DON'T EVEN GET ME STARTED on the "War on Terror" though,

Gary "fresh back from his latest tight squeeze thru U.S. Immigration
himself" Pig
