I'd respectfully disagree -- without trying to proselytize while I'm at it.
 You can make a fairly credible argument, I think, that some rap -- at least
the mainstreamish pop stuff -- has accomplished hooks.
I'm thinking of the chorus to The Black Eyed Peas' "Where Is The Love," for
instance, or perhaps even a "The Way You Move," with that Earth, Wind and
Fire sample.
