It pretty much did... hence his song "NYC Freaks," a paean to the NYC
jamband fans who embraced him and made him a part of their scene.  He did an
impressive stint at the 2002 Jammys, the awards show for the jamband scene,
where he jammed on one stage with the Tom Tom Club while Ratdog, Trey
Anastasio, Warren Haynes, and others wailed away on the main stage.
