>>Robin Zander was a full-time solo acoustic folkie at a resort in Milwaukee
or Wisconsin, in fact Cheap Trick had a different singer before him and
waited quite a long time for Zander's contract to be up so he could join
them without being sued.<<

Greetings from Milwaukee! The actual story is that Zander was the vocalist
that Nielsen originally wanted, but he was locked into a contract with a
resort in Wisconsin Dells, doing a folksy acoustic duo. Cheap Trick's early
gigs were played with vocalist Xeno, who eventually left the band for a more
steady paying bar band gig. Xeno ended up in Bad Boy, who put out a couple
of albums (plodding 70's rock) and now open for Cheap Trick ever time they
come to Milwaukee - I remember WKRP in Cincinnati used to have a Bad Boy
poster hanging in the studios. Around the time that Xeno quit, Robin
Zander's contract at the resort came to an end & he joined up. I've seen
Xeno play around Milwaukee and I don't think Cheap Trick would've gained
their success w/o Zander. Milwaukee also is home to some great Cheap Trick
tribute bands.

>>The Shivvers-Til The Word Gets Out: The Shivvers were a Milwaukee-based
band from the early '80s, featuring the great pipes of Jill Kossoris. If
you like vintage power pop, this stuff is the sh*t!! Twenty-four would-be
hits in all! Their drummer was Jim Richardson, who I believe is the same
guy who Shoes used for both of their IPO performances.<<

After a songwriting stint in Nashville, Jill released a solo album a couple
of years ago. Guitarist Scott Krueger & drummer Jim Richardson are
currently in a band called The Aimless Blades.
http://www.aimlessblades.com/main.htm John Richardson is the guy who played
with Adam Schmitt, Tommy Keene & Shoes...although Jim Richardson used to be
in a band with Howie Epstein in his Milwaukee days (before Tom Petty & The
Heartbreakers & his recent death).

Goodbye from Milwaukee

NP: Bleu - Picked it up based on the Audities poll & my first spin isn't
blowing me away, but it sounds like something that might grow on me.
