Actually, as I understand it, the song was written by Rick Nielsen
as his tongue-in-cheek response to the fact that Robin Zander
had (at one time) taken a job as a dance instructor, teaching little
old ladies dance steps, in an Arthur Murray Dance Studio or
some similar type of setting. I believe that Zander was taking
lessons and eventually helped take over the class. Nielsen (as I
recall, in an interview, though I'm not sure -- I did speak to him
once, backstage at a concert -- Long Beach Arena, New Year's
Eve, circa 1979 or '80, so maybe that's when I was told?)
chided Zander, saying "[you're] a whore, you'll do anything for
money" when he heard how Zander was making a living prior
to Cheap Trick. Anyway, even if it's not true, it's a good story,
eh?
