alrighty: that makes sense. lets see if i can outdo myself with an even stupider question....do bands still release actual singles? like, a good song, paired with a concession to the bass player? or is a single more of a metaphysical notion wherein the label instructs ( or begs) the programmers which song to overplay next?

eligible for Record or Song of the year .. They wouldn't be able to win
best album again, because the album came out in 2002, but since the
category was for best song, any commercial single qualifies.

how is it possible that coldplay won grammies in 2 consecutive years with
material from a single album? how can this be? what loophole am i missing?
also, does someone here know if any songs from the delightful 'school of rock'
were at least nominated? thanks, harris
