Speaking as an American who LOVES The Darkness ... I get it, and so do
others here in the States.  For me, it's almost a nostalgic reaction.  The
Darkness is like the great lost '70's rock album just uncovered.  Throw in
Queen, Thin Lizzy, AC/DC, Boston, Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow -- even some
38 Special -- and you don't even begin to touch all the influences that seem
to spark chemical reactions in my memory.

Oh, and not to be judgmental, but how the hell did The Thorns disc make it
into the top friggin' 9 on the Best of 2003 list???  Jesus, what an
overhyped, overproduced and underwhelming piece of crap that was, IMHO.
Grandaddy's disc alone was SO much better.

Let the arguments proceed!
