Just a quick review that the in-store appearance by Jason Falkner in
San Diego was quite enjoyable. Held at a small, but hip, shop in San
Diego's South Park section. The small building was wall-to-wall standing
room only. Fire Marshall would probably be very unhappy I'm guessing. I, on
the other, was quite happy to hear Jason perform a few of his new songs and
whatever anyone requested ranging from old standards (She Goes To Bed,
Eloquence, Holiday..plus more) to the older Grays material to various
covers (none of which I recognized but were introduced as "This is a
cover..." My ignorance wasn't shared by my fellow attendees as everyone
sang along to several of these.) Armed with only his beat-to-hell Fender
Strat, cheap mic and amp (the stores?), Jason was quite chipper and engaged
in much in between song entertaining banter including several comments
about records hanging on the wall. When noticing the MINOR THREAT debut
across the room adorning the West wall, Jason commented, "Minor
Threat..classic! I bet y'all didn't know I used to be a punk as well as a
mod, a nu-romantic, a .... (trailing off) I was the first in my school with
a 'hawk."

The BLISS DESCENDING E.P. was sold for $10 (as opposed to the
previously selling price of $12) and I would be very surprised if ANYONE
walked out of the premises without a copy. I completely agree with the
previous posting that all 5 songs are instantly accessible and only
continue to becoming more enjoyable. To the girl in front of me in line to
get the E.P. personalized with an autograph, Jason commented that he will
be commencing on his next full length piece after he returns from his
shows. The girl asked me to snap a shot on her camera of her with Jason.
While posing, I say, "That's a boring shot, how's about a kiss?" Without
any hesitation, Jason planted a big fat one on her and I got THE money shot
and a made a "friend for life" that day!

Unfortunately, due to financial hardship I was unable to catch the show
that evening when he opened for Travis at Spreckles Theater, but the
in-store was quite an experience.

Just a gigolo,
-Jeff Brenneman, who's completely jazzed that tomorrow he will be picking
up THE GOD'S MUST BE CRAZY 1 & 2 on DVD. Listed as "2 CULT CLASSICS FOR ONE
LOW PRICE!" Why is it that all of my favorites are listed as cult classics?
Basquiat, Repo Man (my last purchase), Attack Of The Killer Tomatoes,
Spinal Tap, Harold & Maude......
