Just thought I would add my own comments to the Badfinger discussion. I
actually really enjoyed Pete Ham's 7 Park Ave. I liked Ham's album more
than any of the Bad Finger albums that I own(note: I only have Straight up
and No Dice) . I thought that the songs were stronger and somehow a little
more stylistically unique on Pete Ham's solo demo collection. I think I am
also a bit of a sucker for the DIY 2 track ping pong thing. There is a real
intimacy to the tracks on 7 Park Ave. My only difficulty with Badfinger as a
group, and this does not pertain to their singles and the odd non single
album track, is that most of the songs on the two albums that I own are
often a little like second rate Beatles songs. Now, don't get me wrong, I l
like Beatley stuff. Heck I love XTC,The Nines,Falkner,Jellyfish etc. I have
to agree with one of the audities member's post though, that some of the BF
album tracks are a little weak. Having said this, most of BF's songs are
masterpieces next to what is out their in mainstream pop radio today. Again,
just my opinion. I guess I am more of a Pete Ham than a Badfinger fan.
David
