Their last album was critically lauded, I think, but they'd lost a bit of
their edge.  In my mental filing system, they're filed under "Not as good as
the Wildhearts".

If anyone's unsure about the comedy value of the Darkness, try listening to
this. It still divides opinion, but as a day-1 Radiohead fan, I have to say
that I think it's absolutely fantastic. They somehow manage to puncture
pomposity using pins primarily prefabricated from pompous poodle-pop.  A
double-bluff of pomposity, if you like.  Enough alliteration, here's the
