I was on the floor laughing when I saw The Darkness on Letterman. This
isn't my kind of music at all. Not in the 70's, 80's or now. I showed the
vid to a couple of band members and we were all left scratching heads. I
reckon that every town has a bar band that can play as well, but there sure
aren't as many singers that are just so frackin' silly.

AS for the Hellacoptors, they were pretty serious about what they were
doing. Nice guys and the bass player was such a mad music fan. I just
didn't dig 'em that much. Good show, great look, but, 'eh? I got some of
the records but I don't get into it at all.

In my most cynical I just see yet another wave of hype, "if it's repeated
enough, it must be true". If I went down to the local record shop, I don't
know if anyone on either side of the counter would know who we are talking
about. Oh well, good luck to them, their success or lack of doesn't really
change my day much.

My biggest problem is this weird nostalgia train we are on now. You've got
all those "garage" bands that are just doing what was happening in the mid
80's. Garage Shock was a big catalyst, but by the end, it had clearly run
it's course. People were more into the form not the content. None of the
new bands would have had half a chance at the 3B, they just would have been
blown off stage by the likes of SCOTS and The Nomads.
