Not if you're basing the entire band on their audio output. This has been MY
point. The question was why Americans weren't warming up to The Darkness.
Well, because when you listen to them -- which will be the first exposure
most people have (i.e. through radio play) -- the voice is the first thing
you hear.

If you're an MTV junkie or a magazine hound....yes, the whole package is
quite quaint and endearing in a "poking fun at rock and roll" kind of way.
But, you can't tell that from the songs....only that the singer has a bad
falsetto.

Jumpsuits, big hair, and platform shoes don't seem to translate well on the
radio. And I'm not really sure what posturing sounds like.

And to Rick Bilous re: your comment about The Darkness having a hit record:
I never said they didn't have a hit. I said they weren't being embraced by
the Canadian public. SoundScan is only as impressive as its numbers on any
given week (you can have a #1 with only 5,000 units sold, BTW).

Another list member has pointed out that the import disc HAS gone Gold....so
I stand corrected. With 50,000 discs sold The Darkness are set to take over
the Great White North....or at least the section of Scarborough where all
those CDs have been purchased.

Rock on, Garth...
