ugh - These new A&W's are a travesty over the orignaIs I grew up on in
California and later Oklahoma. While A&W's root beer is still great, the
burgers have been shrunk down to the size and taste the same as Burger King's
(and more expensive too).

My favorite would be Wayne's Drive-in in Lawton Oklahoma, which has been there
since 1950 - even the encroachment of a Mcdonalds, Taco Bell and Arbys across
the street hasnt killed it off.

It's mind boggling to see Sonic Drive-In explode from a tiny disorganized
chain
of mom and pop franchises (with hit-and-miss quality) into a mid-south monster
in the past 10 years. I read a story last summer where some teenagers in
Massachusetts saw a Sonic commercial on ESPN and drove over 650 miles to
Virgina Beach to eat at one. All for a cherry limade and tater tots?
