Go! Go! Go!
The guys kicked much huge booty at Sparklefest this year. I put them
on the bill simply because they were on tour with the Shazam at the
time. I was a little skeptical as I like to hear stuff a lot before I
put an act on the bill. I think everyone was pretty floored by them.
Super-ultra pro musicians and gobs of energy to burn (they were
guzzling Red Bull backstage). Evan Foster is a major talent and a
nice guy too. I haven't picked up on a Ramones vibe, but the Jags'
comparison hits pretty close as does Stranglers, Costello and even
Go2-era XTC. Tuff, tuff stuff.
All the Darkness talk reminds me that I have to pipe up and speak of
my "other" fave hard-rock high-concept band that really is just a
great pop group - The Upper Crust. 3 largely flawless full length
CD's and a killer double-live CD! Le Duc d'Istortion, indeed!
