Last night I went to Rusty Anderson cd release show. The show opened with
an amazing set by PHux. He did songs from PHux Deluxe, Purgatory Falls and
some tunes. I was in pop heaven when his set was done. Now for the Rusty
Anderson set, I am sorry to say his set didn't cut it for me. Lots of
wanky guitar solos. His material was all over the map. One song was like a
50's lullaby. This song had some nice 4 part harmonies. One tune was a
surf instrumental, another was a drony ballad. Over all they just
impressed me as being 70's rock band and there were plenty of guys in the
audience with that 70's big hair look. That was pretty amusing.
I didn't hate him but I certainly would not go out of my way to see him
again or did I have any desire to buy the cd. If they were on a bill with
someone else I liked, I could tolerate it.
