Yes, yes, yes! Scotty from Pop Boomerang sent along a copy for the radio show a couple of weeks ago. I think Michael's just about perfectly conjured my feelings here. This one is so lovely, so vibrant. The vocals are a big part of what have kept me keen on this. They are generous, so relaxed and yet a lot of nuance. I think that's where he shares a lot with Neil Finn, but I find Tim's voice to have this incredible warmth to it that I don't often hear with Neil. A few of the songs have the junkyard pop waltz structure of Elliott. But there's more: for those here who vibe to thoughtful lyrics, this one is sure special. It's smart without being clever - mostly love songs: knowing, wise & weathered, adult love songs. It's been a constant companion over the last couple weeks and with good reason - for it seems to me the aural equivalent of the gentle reassuring touch of a friend or a lover.

RIYL Aztec Camera, Elliott Smith, Neil Finn, solo Kevin Kane but really...just recommended & highly.

Hey gang..

For any of you auditeers looking for great new releases early this year,
you'd be well pleased to check out the new album from Tim Reid. I heard it
yesterday, and just couldn't stop playing it. First class songwriting, great
singing (i could listen to his voice all day.. oh, i did!) and great
production make this a must have, and certainly an early contender for the
Top 10.. i can't imagine a better singer songwriter record coming out this
year. It's a little mellow.. a great record to listen to loud, as it's quite
emotional and overwhelming. I hear flavours of Neil Finn in some of the
melodic turns, and the presentation reminds me of Elliot Smith at times..
but less angular than Elliot could be. Every song is great and accessible,
and while he may conjure up the spirits of Neil & Elliot, rest assured that
Tim combines all that to make his own unique voice, as a singer and
songwriter. Here's a guy who could be a MAJOR new talent given half a
chance..

Available from Popboomerang, and i assume Not Lame and the like.
