I'm not sure if you're joking here or not..But, I kind of hope so. :)
(?)

Anyway, and either way, I took this post as that "differences between
countries" and what grabs them or what they "get" is understandable
because they have different cultural contexts for what they are
exposed to (just, check ANY of the studies done by Professor Bob
Hutton) :). The band Darkness yet being another example of this (in
his opinion) in a general way. Why is this such a dangereous topic???
Sure it's talking in generalities but please.... earth shattering
news...there ARE differences in what we "get" per the culture we live
in and what were exposed to. I think that was the primary point being
made. And I agree.
Also, (as the point he made was) all this talk about the exposure
of her breast but what about the other things we Americans, including
upset parents, let their kids watch that day prior to the "breast"
(soon to be called "breast-gate" I'm sure). Croutch (sp) grabbing,
ripping at clothes, the lyrics....I'm not being moralistic but it's
IS weird to me to how nudity is THE line that is drawn in America.
While, exaggerated sexuality and violence is so highlighted SO often
here in America. Do we need to be so defensive about this? Again, the
poster's point being that in his country, nudity is probably seen as
more "natural" and less charged then in America (and yeah, it's kind
of silly, is it not). If anyone in America doesn't think America has
some oddities about the paradox regarding this, then with respect,
I'd suggest looking closer.
I remember catching Nick Lowe in London years ago and he made fun
of American audiences. I (being American) could only laugh per the
differences WERE so obvious and as I was already taken in with how
different the Brit audience seemed to me. Hardly a "woo hoo" to be
heard!
That said, respectfully, I don't understand how a few people took
this discussion so personally. Maybe I'm missing something.
