Tom:

You'll also find Gary Jules' recording of "Mad World" on his self-released album TRADING SNAKEOIL FOR WOLFTICKETS; I got my copy recently from cdbaby.com. I'm not certain how long this CD has been available, but the music and lyric copyrights are shown to be 2001. Minimalist production, with Jules and co-producer/ engineer Michael Andrews responsible for all instruments and vocals except drums (on three tracks) and some b-vox. Melodic, singer-songwriter pop, most of which is solidly guitar-based, as opposed to the delicate acoustic piano and string arrangement on Jules' version of "Mad World." If you like his whispery lead vocals and you're a fan of the genre--I do, and I am--you'll probably enjoy the album.

n.p. "Long Way Down," Guster, KEEP IT TOGETHER (another recent purchase, which would've made my 2003 Top 20 if I'd heard it sooner)
