Hi all..

It was written..

>17. Josh Rouse - 1972 (314)
>18. Grandaddy - Sumday (306)
>19. Mark Bacino - The Million Dollar Milkshake (298)
> Michael Carpenter & Kings Rd. - Kingsrdworks (tie)

Firstly.. thanks to Mike B for all the effort in compiling all of this
stuff. It's a wonderful thing to have our little community throw their
collective hats in the ring and let us know what we've rated as worthy over
the year. Some new things i know i have to go and chase up..

Personally, i want to thank those on the list who supported the indie
artists and labels again this year, including myself and my little projects.
I know i've said it all before, and i don't want to sound like a broken
record, but for artists like me, and labels like Not Lame, Jam, Parasol etc
who don't necessarily have the budgets/opportunities to reach the masses the
way FOW, Jayhawks etc may (nothing against their success), it's little
communities like this one that we almost rely on for the word of mouth to
help us spread our music further. I was a bit worried that my release
earlier this year fell flat with Auditeers as no one was talking about it...
(not that anyone has to). I guess i was worried for no reason.

3 things i'm happy about with the Top 20 list..

*i just managed to sneak in again. Just..
*Not Lame had one release in the Top 20. It would have worried me if the
premier pop label in the world didn't get a release into the Top 20 on a pop
mailing list...
*I'm no Matt Sweet (who had #s9 & 10), but i'm happy i had 2 releases in the
Top 40 (#19 & #38) :-)

Lastly, if anyone is wondering what's next for me, i'll let you know that
2004 will be a big year for MC. Apart from the birth of my first child in
April and the moving of my studio into much nicer surroundings, i'm hoping
for quite a few releases in the next 15 months. Their should be a new album
of original material, which i'm finishing the mixes of this week, out by mid
year, tentatively titled 'Rolling Ball'. SOOP #2 - the powerpop edition,
should be out in time for the Xmas stockings. I should have a compilation
album of tribute tracks, leftovers and compilation only tracks to be titled
'Oarfanz' out early next year. I've also started work on a collaboration
with Mark Moldre from Hitchcock's Regret. Basically we get together in the
morning to write the song, and don't leave the studio that day until it's
finished. We're 3 songs in and it's sounding very nice.. very different from
mine or his records. So hopefully all that will see the light of day before
the middle of next year.

Anyway, thanks again for all your support, and i'm glad you continue to
enjoy what i (and artists like me) continue to put out there.

MC
