Billy....you might have an original.
Despite the poor sales figures above, chances are that Capitol had a
warehouse full of these singles and that retail was sitting on stock that
had not been returned. I checked the CHUM charts and because of low sales
none of these tracks made it onto the Hit Parade here except the "She Loves
You" single...giving Paul White the last laugh in December 1963.
"I Want To Hold Your Hand b/w I Saw Her Standing There" charted BEFORE the
Beatles arrival in New York -- January 20th in fact. Both tracks went #1
three days BEFORE the Ed Sullivan appearance.
"Please Please Me" was released by Capitol, again, and finally charted in
March 1964. Methinks that all that old stock was put to good use....
