I've pretty much seen Crenshaw a couple times a year since '82 (damn, will I
miss the Bottom Line.) He does vary his setlist, but not much, and
certainly from tour to tour. But he has a core of songs he pretty much
always plays-- 3 or 4 each from the two before Bag. But I don't think I've
ever seen him where he hasn't tossed in at least one quirky cover.
I think he's just great. At core I'm not sure he's power pop so much as
roots rock; certainly way more Buddy Holly than Alex Chilton. Or, say, more
Dave Edmunds than Splitsville. I also think his guitar playing is
underrated, and fantastic.
