Here in Rochester NY we have a couple of cool college stations and a
community/BOCES station WBER-FM. "BER" runs "Universal Buzz" radio shows and
has started to get away from the Marilyn Manson side of the alternative
fence in recent years - it's not unusual to hear Matthew Sweet, The Dropkick
Murphys or even FOW nowadays. Or see blurbs like this (wasn't someone just
lamenting Sugarcult the other day?)...

Each week they run a "test track" - Spin It Or Bin It, Cash Or Trash, Does
It Stay Or Does It Go...you know the various incarnations. What a thrill to
hear "Mexican Wine" as the offering! last week. (Yes, I pulled over and
called in). They were playing "Stacy's Mom" last year, so maybe "Bright
Future In Sales" is next? (Bad news - FOW only got a 54% rating - not even
certain that's enough!)

Although with OUR weather, "Valley Winter Song" would be most
appropriate...This week it's a track from The Thrills. Okay, they're not
exactly trailblazing here, but at least they're starting to wise up!
