I don't think so either. Why would anyone cheat on a list that's just for
fun? (Although I do suspect some sportswriters of using this ploy for MVP
and Heisman Trophy votes!!)
Hopefully seeing a title on the list triggers someone that they forgot to
include something, or - as you say - reminds them to vote. However, I also
prefer the non-posting of running totals, but only because I like the
surprise at the end. Since many people post publicly (and I wish EVERYONE
would!) you can pretty much figure out who's battling for supremacy.
I'm all for the database that someone (Scott? Lee?) posted that tracked what
records came out. I think that's an invaluable tool (but a dangerous
shopping list!). Not sure I care about the running total database; I'd
probably avoid it for the reasons above.
