This reminds me of ROCK, ROT AND RULE -- a comedy routine developed by the
drummer for Superchunk. He appeared on a talk show on WFMU, under a false
name, claiming to have written the ultimate argument settler -- a book which
classifies all rock artists by whether they rule, they rock or they suck
(but he wasn't sure if that would be acceptable, so hence, 'rot'). The
interviewer throws names out at him. When Neil Young comes up, he says,
'Rot.' The interviewer was flabbergasted, and wonders how that could be.
He responds, "Trans, Everybody's Rocking" The interviewer notes that those
were not typical, and he shrugs it off -- he can only go on what he's
heard...
Anyway, this is akin to discovering The Pretty Things by checking out their
'70s work or ... geez, my head is filling with examples...
