I've grown accustomed to the fact that every year I have stuff in my top ten
that will fall in tie and stuff in the lower ranks that will rise. But I do
try to temper my initial enthusiasm for a brand new record when I'm at the
11th hour so I don't over-react.

Never never never. If anything, I tend to penalize the overpopular (your FOW
reference); they almost have to be better. I try to catch myself there, too.
(Case in point - ironically - The White Stripes. Great singles, weak album).
Now back to that 11th hour angst.
