Hi Everyone,
Please make sure to head over to The Scene in Glendale, California, on
Thursday, January 15, for the return of International Pop Overthrow
Presents!
Here's the lineup:
8:45 Morty Shallman-The latest CD by this dapper, affable Angelino, Loves
Oblivion, will warm the hearts of pop fans everywhere with its beautiful,
personal songs. Its a tragicomic roller coaster ride of lust, obsession,
betrayal & regret, told in a series of twelve melodic and hook-filled song
chapters. When he performs live, Mr. Shallman delivers these tunes with
grace and aplomb. www.morty.org
9:30 Feathergun-Heres a band who have the harder side of pop music down to
a T, plus they dont seem to mind doing the rock star bit on stage! Their
new CD, playfully titled Music To Wash To, is melodic as hell and packs
quite a wallop! www.feathergun.com
10:15 The Piper Downs-One of the most entertaining bands on the scene is led
by the ultra-congenial organizer of Los Angeles Wheat From Chaff Festival,
Bobby Bognar. Their latest album, Varying Degrees of Failure and
Tunelessness, is anything but what the title suggests. You always get more
than a bang for your buck with The Piper Downs, and they're one of the
hardest working and well-travelled bands in the biz! www.piperdowns.com
11:00 The Dollyrots-A female-fronted, three-piece punk/indie band with
enough energy for a band twice that size! Their music blends innocence,
attitude, and fun, as it draws equal from '60s girl pop and all-out punk
rock 'n roll. Plus, they just got a well-deserved, very cool HP commercial!

11:45 They Walk Among Us-I recently saw this band from Cardiff, Wales, and
they really impressed me with their dynamic blend of Brit-pop and modern
rock, with lush harmonies and soundscapes. They've got what it takes, both
live and on their brand new CD, the cerebrally-titled Mathematics Art In
Progress. www.they-walk-among-us.com
Admission is FREE! The Scene is a 21 and over venue, and is located at 806
Colorado St. in Glendale. Their website is www.thescenebar.com and their
phone is 818 241-7029
We hope to see you there!
