The movie companies have been doing this with DVD's since the get-go. "Lord
Of The Rings" has been the biggest culprit. Holiday-specific release dates
for the initial DVD sell-through of a double disc theatrical screener with
nary a bonus feature....6 months later, with a second holiday market in
mind, they unleash the 4-disc extended maxed-out, bonus feature, deleted
scene, easter egg hunt spewfest.
Got sucked in buying the wrong version of "Fellowship Of The Ring"...didn't
fall for it on "Two Towers"...waited for the 4-disc set and saved myself the
expense of a lame double disc coaster.
