~~~~~at the college radio station i worked at, we had
this show on sunday morning.  man, i wish i could
remember the name. anyway, it followed these HORRIBLE
(imo) shows like 'focus on the family' and stuff and
this one show that actually was kind of amusing where
this man and woman would play the hits of today
(actually the hits of ten years ago) and then make
christian comments about them. like vanessa williams
'save the best for last' and stuff.
anyway, the show was from 10am-12pm (and let me tell
you, that was such a struggle to get up for, and i
wasn't even hungover), and it was called....man, i
CANNOT remember the name.  but it was
modern/alternative rock that had christian leanings.
for instance, we'd play early U2, and the alarm and
other bands that elude me now.  but it was a lot
cooler than all the sunday 'community' programming
that we had to play as part of the deal as goes radio
stations, and much moreso non-profit, college radio
stations.
not that there's anything wrong with community
programming, it's just that living in naperville, IL
(think very homogenized, white, republican,
conservative), you weren't going to get a lot of
diversity in your views in 'community programming.'
or i guess my particular views didn't go with the
community, perhaps.
but i digress, yet again.  point being, it was always
a surprise to hear what the music director had found
to play on ________ said show, even though it was
mostly a way to get more music on/people on the air,
and not my interest in 'christian' music that made me
take the show. sometimes, music is just good.
sometimes, it's just bad.
jocelyn, who is going to go insane thinking of the
name of the show.
