Man, looking at everybody's lists really reminds me how far behind I am on
2003 releases. Well, I'll get to 'em someday.
In previous years of posting my faves to Audities, I purposely filtered out
the "non-Audities" type of music. Not this time. What follows is a
straight-ahead representation of new stuff I liked the most in 2003,
"insanely great pop" or not.
Hey, Mike B. -- I figure The Deal's GOODBYE SEPTEMBER didn't qualify as a
2003 release, because it had some tracks from 1987's BRAVE NEW WORLD,
but if I'm wrong, slip it into the # 4 position and push everybody else down
one slot. (Sorry, Trolleyvox.*)
1. Fountains of Wayne - WELCOME INTERSTATE MANAGERS
2. Chris von Sneidern - THE WILD HORSE
3. Julieta Venegas - SI

5. Michael Carpenter & Kings Rd - KINGSRDWORKS
6. Warren Zevon - THE WIND
7. Robyn Hitchcock - LUXOR
8. Grandaddy - SUMDAY

20. The Trolleyvox - LEAP OF FOLLY
* LEAP OF FOLLY would be ranked higher if someone had been rude enough
to introduce singer Beth Filla to the Antares Auto-Tune. Heresy, I know....
Drew
